Flexing your joy muscles

This thought experiment is to get you into the energy of excitement and to help you think big. Imagine you have an unlimited budget and your sole task is to plan the most incredible holiday for yourself that you can imagine. Spend at least 5 minutes dreaming about the holiday, feeling the feeling of arriving there and how it feels to stay in your chosen accommodation.

Then go online and research that holiday, look at hotels in the area and pick the best one, look at flights, and information about attractions at your destination. Now that you have more details fleshed out and you can picture the hotel and the scenery, spend some more time imagining and dreaming about this holiday. You’re aiming to give your body the feeling of hopeful excitement. Don’t get caught up in little details, just focus on the broad strokes of the experience.

In order to create a more expansive life, we have to change how we think. Thinking small won’t serve you in your new joy-filled life. You want to become a dreamer and someone who dreams big and thinks big. This exercise helps expand possibilities and gives your body a feeling of joyful excitement. As we know, your body doesn’t know the difference between a real experience and an imagined one as long as you’re feeling the emotions, so get dreaming!
